We know that separating from your partner is one of the most difficult things you  might ever have to do. Pro-Contact offers a range of assessment and intervention services for families and training for professionals in making informed decisions about how to agree safe and positive contact arrangements.

It can feel like you don’t know what to do for the best, and anger and frustration get the better of you. When you and your partner separate, it is very important to remember that your child or children need to have a relationship with both their parents, as well as their extended family. Pro-Contact has a range of services to help you establish the best way of maintaining a relationship in a safe and positive way.

Supported Contact

Supported Contact

A safe service where contact is facilitated by volunteers who remain in the contact rooms to support families when there are issues.

  • Available alternate Saturdays
  • Contact usually lasts two hours but may be less depending on what is agreed by all parties
  • Volunteers are present in each room but do not listen or observe individual children
  • Your child will be able to return to their resident parent at any time
  • A range of toys and activities are provided for all age ranges
  • The service is available on an ongoing basis with next steps for progressing contact are reviewed every 8 weeks

Price: £50 administration fee and £2 charge per parent per session

Supervised Contact

Supervised Contact
  • Contact lasts two hours but may be more or less depending on what is agreed by all parties
  • A supervisor is in constant sight and sound of the child
  • Your child will be able to return to their resident parent at any time
  • A range of toys and activities are provided for all age ranges
  • Can be fully recorded, reported and assessed to cover whole family engagement and issues with contact arrangements

Price: £100 for 2 hours 

For recorded sessions add £100 per session

 

Indirect Contact

Indirect Contact
  • Indirect contact involves the sending of information between parents and children via Pro-Contact
  • This type of contact is extremely valuable in maintaining a relationship when parents and children cannot meet face to face
  • This information can take various forms but most commonly it is letters, cards, photographs, videos or drawings
  • Indirect sessions  can be offered to support parents or children in the creating and receiving of materials, or for staff to check though materials that are to be posted on.
  •  A post box service which  sends on of materials can be offered when addresses need to be kept confidential

Price: £50 for 1 hour Indirect session 

£12 Post box exchange (one card/letter each way), £22 for a parcel

Identity and Life Story Work

Identity and Life Story Work

This service is tailored to families individual circumstances, and is delivered using a wide range of child friendly resources that support staff in discussing topics with children such as different types of families and how some children can have two Mums or two Dads, and exploring children s understanding and feelings about changes in their family.

  • Sessions use tools such as family trees, feelings cards, storytelling and pictograms to help children understand and articulate their feelings about family changes
  • Each session is tailored to a family and child’s needs and circumstances
  • Can be used as a tool to reintroduce the idea of a family member a child does not know
  • Can form part of an assessment to establish a child’s feelings about contact.
